John Coyle

John Coyle was elected a Commissioner of Irish Lights and took his seat on the board on 19 December 2008.A keen sailor who has been sailing off the west coast of Ireland since the age of 16, he is a member of Galway Bay Sailing Club, Corrib Rowing and Yacht Club, the Royal Galway Yacht Club, and Cumann hUicéiri Chonamara. In addition he is a Trustee of the rnli, President of the Galway Lifeboat Station, past Chair of Galway Harbour Commissioners, and Chair of City of Galway Shipping Co. Ltd.Mr Coyle owns the Renvyle House Hotel in Connemara, County Galway.He lives in Galway and is married with six children.

The Lord Mayor of Dublin

On her election as Lord Mayor of Dublin Councillor Emer Costello became an ex officio Commissioner of Irish Lights. She subscribed to the oath and took her seat on the Board on 24 July 2009. Councillor Costello (Labour Party) was co-opted to Dublin City Council in 2003 and was re-elected to represent the North Inner City Ward in June 2009. In September 2009 she established the Lord Mayor's Commission on Employment to address the employment, education and training needs of the people of Dublin. The Commission aims to examine how Dublin City Council can facilitate growth in the local economy and will focus on employment, education skills and training, business entrepreneurship and the voluntary and social economy. Councillor Costello is originally from Blackrock, Dundalk, County Louth and moved to Dublin in 1980. A Graduate of UCD, she previously worked as a teacher and trainer. More recently she worked in the field of European Co-operation in Education as Programme Manager of the Education Service of Leargas. She has also worked as an observer of international elections in Cambodia, South Africa and Bosnia. Councillor Costello now dedicates herself to concentrating her efforts full time on politics, living in and representing the north inner city. She is married to Joe Costello TD.

Also, following local elections on 5 June 2009, Councillors Paddy Bourke, Dermot Lacey and Edie Wynne joined the Board of the Commissioners of Irish Lights as representatives of Dublin City Council.

Councillor Paddy Bourke

is a Labour Councillor for the Artane Ward having been first elected to Dublin City Council in 1991. Councillor Bourke is a founder member and first chairman of the Artane/ Beaumont Family Recreation Centre and continues to play an active role in the centre serving as a life trustee and committee member. He is currently chairperson of the City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee and is Chairperson of three constituent colleges, Colaiste Dhulaigh, Killester and Margaret Aylward Community College. He is married to Margaret and has one daughter. As a former Lord Mayor of Dublin in 2007/08 Councillor Bourke has previously been an ex officio Board member.

Councillor Dermot Lacey

is a Labour Councillor for the Rathmines Ward. He has been a member of the City Council since 1993 - first representing the South Inner City ward before transferring to the Pembroke ward in 1999. Councillor Lacey has been actively involved in youth work for many years particularly within the Scout Movement in Ireland. He has been a member of the National Executive of Scouting Ireland and was vice-president of the National Youth Council of Ireland for four years. He is currently a member of the City of Dublin Youth Service Board and was twice appointed to the Board of fás representing Youth Interests. Councillor Lacey previously sat on the Board in his capacity as Lord Mayor of Dublin in 2002/03. He is married to Jill and has two children.

Councillor Edie Wynne

is a Fine Gael Councillor representing the Rathmines Ward. She was co-opted to Dublin City Council in October 2007 and was re-elected in June 2009. Councillor Wynne is Director of the Terenure Enterprise Centre and a member of the Executive Committee of Terenure Village Network. She has also served for three years on the Executive Committee of the Rathmines Information Centre. Councillor Wynne currently works for invesco which is a fund administration company based in the ifsc in Dublin. Originally from Monaghan, Councillor Wynne has lived in Terenure for the past 30 years. She is married to Tom and has two daughters.
