Appointments
Anthony Dale joined the Service on 12th February 1996 as a Drawing Office Technician employed on a contract basis.
Shane McNamara was appointed Attendant, Mew Island Lighthouse, from 1st April 1996.
George Thompson was appointed Assistant Attendant, Mew Island Lighthouse from 1st April 1996.
T. P. (Tucks) Tweedy was appointed Attendant, Hook Head Lighthouse from 1st April 1996.
Paddy Enright was appointed Attendant, Rockabill/Assistant Attendant, Kish from 1st April 1996.
Ciaran Powell was appointed Assistant Attendant, Eeragh Lighthouse from 1st April 1996.
Karin Hudson joined the Service as a Clerical Officer Grade II in the Finance Department on 7th May 1996.
Anne Marie Devitt joined the Service as a Clerical Assistant in the Lighthouse Depot on 9th May 1996.
Suzanne Gray was appointed Clerical Assistant in the Finance Department on the 31st May 1996. She had been employed in a temporary capacity from the 4th September 1995.
Pat Molloy was appointed Chief Engineer on ilt Granuaile on 12th June 1996.
John Cuneen joined the Service as a General Worker in the Lighthouse Depot on 17th June 1996.
Mark Cahill joined the Service as a Clerical Officer Grade II in the Finance Department on 1st July 1996.
Noel Gaughan was appointed Attendant, Blackrock Mayo Lighthouse/Assistant Attendant, Eagle Island Lighthouse on 1st September 1996.
Paddy Gaughan was appointed Attendant, Eagle Island Lighthouse/Assistant Attendant, Blackrock Mayo Lighthouse from 1st September 1996. He had previously been Attendant, Blackrock Mayo/Assistant Attendant, Eagle Island.
Karen Molloy was appointed Clerical Assistant in the Engineer-in-Chief's Department on 18th September 1996. She had been employed in a temporary capacity from 22nd April 1996.
Noel Scanlan was appointed Attendant, Youghal Lighthouse on an interim basis from 30th September 1996.
Donal O'Sullivan was appointed Attendant, Inishtrahull Lighthouse/Assistant Attendant, Tory Island Lighthouse from 1st October 1996.
Sean Doherty was appointed Attendant, Tory Island Lighthouse/Assistant Attendant, Inishtrahull Lighthouse from 1st October 1996. He had previously been Attendant, Inishtrahull/Assistant Attendant, Tory Island.
Rory McGee was appointed Electrical Engineer from 22nd October 1996. He had been employed on a fixed term contract basis since 15th May 1995.

Michael Aylmer was promoted from Clerical Officer Grade I to Executive Officer on the Lighthouse Depot from 1st April 1996.
Robert Hudson was promoted from Clerical Officer Grade I to Executive Officer from the 1st April 1996.
Agnes Donohoe was promoted from Clerical Assistant to Clerical Officer Grade II from 1st April 1996.
Patricia Jacob was promoted from Clerical Assistant to Clerical Officer Grade II from 1st April 1996.
Capt. Shay Hickey was promoted from Deputy Inspector & Marine Superintendent to Inspector of Lights & Marine Superintendent from 1st May 1996.
Capt. Kieran O'Higgins was promoted from Assistant Inspector to Deputy Inspector & Marine Superintendent from 1st May 1996.
Capt. Carl Laverty was promoted from Chief Officer to Commander ilt Granuaile on 1st May 1996. He has been seconded to Irish Lights Office as Acting Assistant Inspector.
Joe Rosarius was promoted from Drawing Office Technican Grade I to Purchasing Manager on 1st May 1996.
John Walker was promoted from Drawing Office Technican Grade II to Drawing Office Technican Grade I on 1st May 1996.
Michael Murphy was promoted from Second Officer to Chief Officer on ilt Granuaile from 28th May 1996.
Benny Forde was promoted from Chief Officer to Commander ilt Granuaile from 12th June 1996.
Erica Grainger was promoted from Drawing Office Technican Grade IV to Drawing Office Technican Grade III from 20th June 1996.
George Ball was promoted from Second Officer to Chief Officer on ilt Granuaile from 25th June 1996.
Paul Flanagan was promoted from Drawing Office Technican Grade III to Drawing Office Technican Grade II from 1st June 1996.
Willie Keogh was promoted from Third Engineer to Second Engineer on ilt Granuaile from 15th August 1996.
Eugene O'Sullivan was promoted from Assistant Keeper to Principal Keeper from 29th August 1996.
Robert McCabe was promoted from Second Officer to Chief Officer ilt Granuaile on 17th September 1996.
Bernard Hynes has been transferred from Senior Foreman (Progress) to Senior Foreman (Mechanical) on 30th September 1996.
Tom Purdy was promoted from Fitting Shop Foreman, Lighthouse Depot, to Senior Foreman (Progress) from 12th November 1996.
Resignations
Keith Gibney resigned on the 26th January 1996 after three years as a temporary Civil Engineering Technican.
Suzanne Roe resigned on the 2nd May 1996 after sixteen years as Clerical Assistant. She was based in the Lighthouse Depot when she left.
Leslie Dillon resigned on 3rd May 1996 after four years as Clerical Officer Grade II in the Finance Department.
Helen Scanlan resigned on 7th June 1996 after seven years as Clerical Officer Grade II in the Finance Department.
Gerry Sweeney resigned from the position of Attendant, Eagle Island/Assistant Attendant, Blackrock Mayo on the 31st August 1996 after 8 years of service. He had previously served as a Lightkeeper for 16 years.
Kim Featherstone resigned on the 18th October 1996 after nine years as Electrical Engineer.
Apprentices
Mark Purdy Apprentice Lighthouse Technician, left the Service on the 19th September 1996 at the end of his apprenticeship.
Gerry Blackbyrne Apprentice Lighthouse Technician, left the Service on the 20th September 1996 at the end of his apprenticeship.
Brian O'Shaughnessy joined the Lighthouse Depot as an Apprentice Lighthouse Technician Electrical on 23rd September 1996.
Redundancies
Michael Culligan, Assistant Keeper, left the Service on the 27th January 1996 after twenty-eight years' service. He had been on coast relieving duties.
Tucks Tweedy, Acting Principal Keeper, ended his service as Lightkeeper on 31st March 1996 after 35 years' service, to take up the post of Attendant, Hook Head Lighthouse.
Donal O'Sullivan, Acting Principal Keeper, left the Service on the 31st March 1996 after 32 years' service. He took up the post of Attendant, Inishtrahull Lighthouse/Assistant Attendant, Tory Island Lighthouse on 1st October 1996.

Pádraig Keane, Assistant Keeper, left the Service on 31st March 1996 after 27 years of service. He had been on coast relieving duties prior to leaving.
John Hennessy, Technical Information Officer, left the Service on 31st March 1996 after 27 years of service. He had previously been the Training Officer.
Kathleen Cash, Executive Officer, left the Service on 31st March 1996 after 20 years of service. Prior to leaving she was Cashier in the Lighthouse Depot.
Tom Lynch, Executive Officer, left the Service on 31st March 1996 after 17 years of service. Prior to leaving he was based in the Inspector & Marine Superintendent's Department.
Richard Moloney, Executive Officer, left the Service on 31st March 1996 after 16 years of service. Prior to leaving he was based in the Head of Personnel & Administration's Department.
Tony Bernes, Lighthouse Technican Mechanical, Lighthouse Depot, left the Service on 31st March 1996 after 15 years of service.
Martin Murphy, General Worker, Lighthouse Depot, left the Service on 31st March 1996 after 27 years of service.

Charlie O'Shea, Office Attendant, Lighthouse Depot, retired on the 31st May 1996 after 27 years' service.
Capt. Cormac McGinley, Commander ilt Granuaile, retired on the 11th June 1996 after 34 years' service.
Paud O'Connor, Principal Keeper, retired on the 31st August 1996 after 38 years' service. His last station was Baily.
Michael Murphy, Chief Officer, ilt Granuaile, retired on 16th September 1996 after 15 years' service.
Dermot O'Carroll, Senior Foreman Mechanical, Lighthouse Depot, retired on 27th September 1996 after 39 years' service.
Don Scanlan, Attendant Youghal, retired from the Service on 29th September 1996 after nearly 49 years' total service, 38 of which were as a Lightkeeper.
Hugh McLaughlin, Attendant, Tory Island/Assistant Attendant, Inishtrahull, retired from the Service on 30th September 1996 after 42 years' service, 36 years of which were as a Lightkeeper.
Joe Banahan, Third Engineer, ilt Granuaile retired on 25th November 1996 after 34 years' service.

Mrs Maura Scanlan, widow of Michael Scanlan, pensioned Principal Keeper, died on 3rd September 1996.
Tommy Richardson, pensioned General Worker, Lighthouse Depot died on 14th September 1996.
