Frank J. Boland
Mr Frank J. Boland, who has been elected a Commissioner of Irish Lights, took his seat on the Board on 28th April. Mr Boland is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport. He is Chairman and Managing Director of all the companies in the Boland Group, and a Director of several other companies.
He was first elected to the Board of Cork Harbour Commissioners in 1974 and was Chairman from 1979 to 1981; and is now Vice-Chairman.
Mr Boland is a member of The Royal Cork Yacht Club and of Cork Golf Club.
Councillor Pat McCartan
Councillor Pat McCartan has been nominated by Dublin Corporation as a Commissioner of Irish Lights and took his seat on the Board on 22nd September. A solicitor by profession, Councillor McCartan is a member of Democratic Left, and has been a member of Dublin City Council since 1985, representing the Donaghmede area.
Councillor McCartan was a member of Dáil Éireann from 1987 to 1992. He was a member of the Committee on Procedure and Privileges, and a member of the Joint Committee on the Secondary Legislation of the European Union.
